Child Focus, Inc. in Mt. Orab will be holding  its “Together Group” sessions beginning August 29 each Wednesday  from 3 to 4 p.m. for three and four year olds and from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. for five to six year old children.
“This event is for boys and girls age 3-6 who could benefit from building social skills and self-esteem,” said Shelly Baxter, assistant director of Community Mental Health Outreach. “This Together Group will also benefit parents who want to increase their parenting skills in addition to receiving support, education and guidance.”
According to Baxter, since its beginning Child Focus has been able to offer specialized services to the community with evidenced based practices in Parent Child Interaction Therapy, Play Therapy as well as Trust Based Relational Inaterventions.
“We provide services in the home, at the schools and in an office setting,” Baxter said, “We have partnered with Healthsource in Georgetown and provide therapy services in its building.
“We held the first annual Sensory Santa event in 2016 and will again offer this unique opportunity to children and their families. This event is dedicated to youth who have sensory issues and can not handle the bright lights, standing in line at the mall or overwhelming amount of people at the typical event to meet Santa.”
Baxter said the upcoming “Together Group” is focused on improving peer interactions and emotional expressiveness.
The Training Center in Mt. Orab maintains continuing education provider status to meet license requirements set by the Ohio Counselor, Social Worker and Marriage and
