Historic Bodmer Hotel collapses in Ripley

The roof and inside floors of the three-story historic Bodmer Hotel in Ripley collapsed on the evening of May 31, hurling debris onto the sidewalk and Second Street. Emergency response teams were quick on the scene, and fortunately no one was injured in the collapse.
The Bodmer Hotel, said to have been built in the early 1930’s, was abandoned at the time of the collapse.
Second Street remained closed while a construction crew worked to take down the external walls of the Bodmer, while also working to take down the neighboring building attached to the historic hotel.
