17 people and one issue were disallowed from the November 2019 ballot by the Brown County Board of Elections on August 13.
The board noted either an insufficient number of valid signatures on candidate petitions or problems with candidates filling out the petitions properly.
The candidates have until 4 p.m. on August 23 to file a request for reconsideration of the decisions. The board of elections will hold a meeting on August 29 at 3 p.m. to decide on the appeals.
The effort to reduce the Georgetown Fire and EMS levy from 9.5 mills to 2.5 mills was disallowed from the ballot because of an insufficient number of valid signatures. 128 valid signatures were needed and 143 were turned in. However, 26 of those signatures were invalid, leaving the petition 11 signatures short.
The following are the candidates who were disapproved from the ballot and the office they were seeking.

At press time, the board of elections had received requests for a reconsideration hearing from Tom Leonard and Gary Gray. Mike Napier of Georgetown has requested reconsideration on behalf of the levy reduction petition.
Editors Note: Kim Stauffer, who is running for an unexpired term for the RULH Board of Education, was inadvertently left out of the candidate article published in the August 11 Brown County Press.
She is the only candidate running for one seat and her petition was approved on August 13 by the board of election.
