It’s good news for golfers in the Southern Ohio area as the White Oak Golf Course has new owners and will be bringing changes to the already popular course. The White Oak Golf Course near Sardinia has been purchased by Zach and Tim Singler.
“We purchased White Oak course in July of this year.” said Tim Singler, “we will officially take over running the course at the end of the year when the previous owners’ lease is up.
“We originally purchased the 216 acre piece of property just for its real estate value. We bought a farm, so to speak. But we are taking over the day to day operation of the golf course in January and we are very excited about this adventure.”
Singler explained that his family plans on turning the current pavilion area into a wedding venue. He said his daughter Amber Noel is a wedding photographer and will be taking care of the wedding venue. It will be called The Oaks Event Center.
“I’m going with a Jack Nicklaus concept of an 12-hole course, a front six and a back six. Golf has taken a major down turn in the last 10 years due to the fact that people just don’t have the time to spend 5+ hours to golf. With this design, people will have the option to play 6, 9, 12, or 18 holes. It also makes the price more reasonable.” said Singler.
“In order to keep the course open we are going to have to reduce the size to make it more manageable.” Singler said. “The course will receive a face-lift and we have some great ideas that will revitalize the course, making it top quality with friendly staff and reasonable prices.”
Singler, a retired building contractor, said that he and his wife as well as their son and their daughter plan on building new homes on the back of the property overlooking a beautiful 7-acre lake.
“Like I said,” he added, “this all started as a real estate investment and then my daughter brought up the idea of a wedding venue, and I have to admit it will be nice to have a course in my backyard.
“This is going to be a family operated business, completely hands-on. We’re currently living in Georgetown until we build here.”
Singler said he plans on expanding the wedding venue to hold 150 people plus. He said it will be a beautiful place for a wedding at reasonable prices the average person can afford. He said they already have two weddings booked for the upcoming year starting in June. Singler added that he wants everyone to know that all organized leagues are welcome and he looks forward to working with them.
Eventually the family plans on adding to the clubhouse making upgrades.
White Oak Golf Course is located at 5510 Tri County Highway near Sardinia.
