A recent fire in Georgetown has shut down local beauty shop and dry cleaners.
Georgetown Fire Chief Joey Rockey said that the fire call came in around noon, and that firefighters had the blaze under control in about twenty minutes.
“The fire originated in the salon. The dry cleaner side sustained smoke and water damage,” Rockey said.
“We had nine firefighters there from Georgetown, which is pretty good for a daytime fire.”
Rockey said the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
He added that firefighters were able to recover office equipment in dry cleaners as well as other items.
“There were uniforms from the highway patrol, sheriff’s office, village police. There were some older jackets that some people had from when they were in the Navy, so we were able to recover that for them,” Rockey said.
He added that he was very pleased with the performance of his firefighters to keep the fire contained to the salon side of the building and protect the dry cleaners from being destroyed.
