Various Memorial Day observations will be taking place in the area next week.
The Wilson Sroufe Veterans of Foreign Wars Post will conduct their 70th Memorial Day parade and service in Mt. Orab on Monday, May 28.
Parade participants are requested to assemble at the village administration building at 9 a.m., with the parade getting underway at 10 a.m.
The memorial service at the Green Township Cemetery will begin at 10:30 a.m.
VFW Commander Butch Davis encourages all veterans, whether they belong to the VFW or not, to participate.
The Western Brown Band and a number of distinguished guests will participate in the service.
The George A. Lambert Legion Post 755 in Sardinia reports that they will be conducting three Memorial Day Programs on Monday, May 28.
Memorial Day services will be presented at Fincastle Cemetery at 11 a.m., Five Points Cemetery at 11:30 a.m. and at the Sardinia Cemetery Veterans Memorial at 2 p.m. The public is invited and encouraged to attend.
Military veterans, ROTC members, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and anyone else wishing to join post members as they march to the Sardinia Cemetery should be in place at the legion hall by 1:30. The parade will depart for the cemetery at 1:45 p.m. Please join us.
The Walter Miller American Legion Post 394 of Russellville will observe Memorial Day weekend beginning with attendance at community services scheduled to be held at the Russellville Presbyterian Church on Sunday May 27th at 11:00AM. Following services, Post members will conduct cemetery ceremonies on the following schedule:
Sunday, May 27th; Ashridge, 1:30 p.m., Decatur, 2:30 p.m., Liberty Chapel, 3 p.m.
Monday, May 28th;
Arnheim Lutheran, 9:30 a.m., Arnheim-St. Marys, 10 a.m., Russellville-Linwood, 11a.m.
The Scanlon-Kelly VFW Post 5920 will conduct a Memorial Day service on Monday, May 28 at 10:30 a.m.
It will be held at St. Patrick’s Cemetery on Anderson State Road across from the community park.
