The Western Brown Broncos rose to a 2-0 overall record with their 43-26 win at home over Washington Court House in a non-league battle on Aug. 27.
The Broncos led 21-0 at halftime break after putting up seven points in the first quarter and scoring two more touchdowns in the second period of play.
The came off halftime break to outscore Washington Court House 15-6 in the third quarter, upping their lead to 36-6.
It was Washington Court House outscoring the Broncos 20-7 in the fourth quarter, but not enough to overcome the 30-point deficit they faced coming into the final frame.
It was another impressive performance on the gridiron by Western Brown’s junior quarterback Drew Novak, who completed 24-of-30 pass attempts for 333 passing yards and three touchdowns, throwing no interceptions.
Drew Novak was second in the Southern Buckeye Athletic/Academic Conference in passing yards after week two with a total of 668, only one yard behind the SBAAC leader Levi Wiederhold of Fayetteville-Perry High School who has 669 passing yards after the first two weeks.
Leading Bronco receivers in their week two win was senior Dylan Novak, who took six receptions for 138 receiving yards and one touchdown.
Western Brown senior receiver Logan Campbell had six receptions for 91 yards.
Drew Novak led the Broncos on the ground with 10 carries for 85 rushing yards and one touchdown carry.
Matthew Osborne has two touchdown receptions in the Broncos’ week two win.
On the defensive side of the ball, Western Brown’s Matthew Frye had seven tackles, while Quentin Collins and Dakota Luther had five tackles each.
Ty Loudon had two sacks, and Jace Beasley had one sack.
The Broncos are on the road Sept. 3 at Monroe High School.
