Ohio Valley Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation has been purchased by Cincinnati-based Health Care Management Group (HCMG) which provides health care services in seven facilities around the Greater Cincinnati area, including Northern Kentucky.
Most Brown County residents remember when the facility first opened it’s doors in 1971, according to Janet Workman, the daughter of one of the original founders.
“The idea and concept of building OVM was made by my father Dale Wilson, his brother Russell Wilson, Lowell Mason and Marion Rickey, Jr.,” Workman said. “Today, Lowell is the only one still living.
“OVM was built on a two-acre plot of land that was from the original Wilson farm, sold to them by Russell.
“These four people worked hard in 1968 getting investors together to help get the project off the ground. Then in 1971 David and Evelyn Seesholtz became investors and they were off and running and OVM became a reality.”
Eventually the Seesholtz’s became the majority stock holders in the facility.
George Balz, OVM Administrator said the purchase of OVM is going to be good for the community and the facility.
“I will be retiring soon after 42 years with OVM and it was important to me to find the right owner for this facility,” Balz said, “It was for sale for some time, but we wanted to find an owner that held the same values important that we do, and HCMG certainly fit that criteria. Their philosophy on running a facility like OVM mirrored ours. They also bring with them a wealth of resources.”
HCMG is a recognized pioneer in the healthcare industry and also operates:
• Alois Alzheimer Center in Greenhills
• Brookwood Retirement Community in Blue Ash
• Clovernook Health Care Pavilion in North College Hill
• Covenant Village in Green Township
• Florence Park Nursing and Rehab Center in Florence, KY
• Arlington Pointe in Middletown
• Loveland health Care Nursing and Rehab Center in Loveland.
Steven Boymel, president and owner of HCMG, said, “We’re very pleased to welcome OVM to the HCMG family. OVM has a well-earned reputation for excellence and nothing about this sale will change that.
“It’s ‘business as usual’ at OVM. The community can look forward to the same high quality of care and award-winning nursing, rehabilitation and therapeutic services including Home Health, Assisted Living and Aquatic Therapy.”
