William Allen Hauke, age 76, of Lexington, Kentucky and formerly of Ripley, Ohio departed this life on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at The Willows on Citation in Lexington, Kentucky. He was born September 17, 1947 in Maysville, Kentucky the son of the late Raymond and Opal (Regenstein) Hauke of Ripley, Ohio. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by one sister – Barbara Jean Polley and four beloved nephews.

Mr. Hauke is survived by his wife of 52 years – Barbara Anne (Perry) Hauke whom he married in August 14, 1971. Their life together was blessed with three children – Carrie Beth (Jeremy) Glover of Nicholasville, Kentucky, Christopher Alan (Ambor Bends) Hauke of Cincinnati, Ohio and Perry Andrew Hauke of Lexington, Kentucky. Their lives were further enriched by the arrivals of three grandchildren – Olivia Reece Cathers of Nicholasville, Kentucky, Liam Conor Hauke and Colin Ralph Hauke both of Cincinnati, Ohio. Being “Poobah” to these three was one of Bill’s greatest joys in life. In addition to his wife, children and grandchildren he leaves behind to mourn – one sister – Rosemary (James) Mahoney of Cincinnati, Ohio; twin brothers – Dennis (Joyce) Hauke and Donald Hauke both of Ripley, Ohio and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Bill was devoted to his family and was an avid and successful gardener. He also enjoyed playing cards (especially Euchre), reading, and going for walks. Bill was famous for his sharp wit and keen sense of humor! A graduate of Morehead State University and The University of Cincinnati, Bill was a gifted educator, known for challenging his students and helping them to achieve. He taught at Bethel-Tate Schools in Clermont County, Ohio from 1971- 2001. In 2001, he continued his career at St. Patrick’s School in Maysville, Kentucky where he taught science, organized and oversaw the school library and eventually served as Dean of the school before his retirement in 2013. Religion always played an active role in Bill’s life. In 2013, he and Barbara moved to Lexington, Kentucky where they became members of the Second Presbyterian Church. Bill served as a devoted and caring usher and Deacon, always aware of what others might need and responding with dignity, love, and respect.

Memorial Celebration of Life Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, December 1, 2023 at the Cahall Funeral Home in Ripley, Ohio. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M to 1:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. Private interment at the Confidence Cemetery in Georgetown, Ohio will be at the convenience of the family.
