Freda Jackson Prather, 68, of Wilmington, Ohio, was called to return to the Lord on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at Clinton Memorial Hospital in Wilmington. Born on September 22, 1955, in Maysville, Kentucky, Freda was the cherished daughter of the late Robert Samuel and Ora Belle (Rivers) Jackson. Her heart, brimming with warmth, love, and light, touched the lives of many, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, unwavering dedication, and loyalty.

Freda’s professional journey was marked by excellence and leadership as a Supervisor at Dayton Power and Light in Wilmington. Her commitment extended beyond her career; she was an active and esteemed member of Leadership Clinton and the Beebe Chapel CME Church in Ripley, Ohio. Her involvement in these communities reflected her passion for service and her deep-rooted faith.

She was predeceased by her beloved sister, Terri Lee, and her dearest friend, Hope Cooper—two souls who, like Freda, will always be remembered with affection and gratitude.

Freda is survived by her devoted husband of 45 years, James Carl Prather, and their two beloved children, Justin Prather of Wilmington, Ohio, and Janelle (Brandon) Duplantier of Dayton, Ohio. Her love will continue to shine through her five adoring grandchildren: Milana Prather, Elisha Prather, Jeremiah Woodruff, Jonah Woodruff, and Jupiter Duplantier. Her memory will also be cherished by her three sisters—Roberta Jackson, Kandy Dudley, and Harriett (Jeffrey) Groh—all of Ripley, Ohio, along with a host of sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and many friends. Freda’s life was a testament to grace, love, and unwavering faith. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A celebration of Freda’s remarkable life will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at Cahall Funeral Home in Ripley, Ohio. Visitation will precede the service from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Interment will follow at Maplewood Cemetery in Ripley.
